- When you enable the Load balancing option with the Lowest cost (SLA) strategy, FortiGate distributes
sessions across preferred members. Member preference is based on the number of SLA targets that
members meet. That is, members that meet the most SLA targets are preferred and are therefore used for
session distribution. After FortiGate identifies the preferred members, it load balances sessions across the members.
