A is correct.

On FortiManager, the FortiSwitch devices that are discovered by a managed FortiGate are also learned by FortiManager and displayed on the FortiSwitch Manager page. FortiSwitch manager allows you to centrally manage FortiSwitch devices discovered by all authorized FortiGate devices on FortiManager. Instead of accessing each FortiGate to manage its attached FortiSwitch devices, you can manage all FortiSwitch devices controlled by all FortiGate devices from a single page on FortiManager. This simplified management can reduce the operating expenses, especially for large networks in which tens or hundreds of switches are deployed.

Correction to my LAST answer. I meant B, not A. There is no standalone “FortiSwitch-Manager device” that you deploy as a management appliance in the Fortinet ecosystem. FortiSwitch Manager is a feature inside FortiManager, not its own box or product. So option A is basically naming something that doesn’t exist as a deployment choice.

D Correct- Simply because: A SECURITY FABRIC ONLY EXISTS WHEN A FORTIGATE IS PRESENT.
Period end of story!!!
📘 Where this is stated in the FortiSwitch 7.6 Administrator Study Guide
Section: FortiLink Overview / Security Fabric Integration
Pages: 71–73
In this section, Fortinet explains that:
FortiLink allows FortiGate to centrally manage FortiSwitch
FortiSwitch becomes part of the Security Fabric
This approach is recommended for simplified management and tight security integration
Those pages directly justify option D.

Why the other options are wrong
❌ A. Use the FortiSwitch-Manager device
❌ There is no product called FortiSwitch-Manager
This is a fake distractor
❌ B. Manage FortiSwitch from FortiManager
FortiManager is for large-scale policy management
It does not provide native Security Fabric integration
FortiManager does not replace FortiLink
Adds complexity rather than simplifying management
❌ C. Use FortiEdge Cloud
FortiEdge Cloud provides cloud-based visibility
It does not integrate FortiSwitch into the Security Fabric
It is not the preferred model for enterprise fabric integration
