Question 31 Discussion

Refer to the exhibit. An administrator is troubleshooting SD-WAN on FortiGate. A device behind branch1_fgt generates traffic to the 10.0.0.0/8 network. The administrator expects the traffic to match SD-WAN rule ID 1 and be routed over HUB1-VPN1. However, the traffic is routed over HUB1-VPN3. Based on the output shown in the exhibit, which two reasons, individually or together, could explain the observed behavior? (Choose two answers)

  • A. The traffic matches a regular policy route configured with HUB1-VPN3 as the outgoing device.
  • B. HUB1-VPN1 does not have a valid route to the destination.
  • C. HUB1-VPN3 has a lower route priority value (higher priority) than HUB1-VPN1.
  • D. HUB1-VPN3 has a higher member configuration priority than HUB1-VPN1.
Correct Answer: B,C

I think AB answers..
B - no route for 10.0.0.0/8
C - Route priority is not mentioned.
D - in sla mode, priority didn't consider

I chose B & C because I see no indicators for A. The traffic matches a regular policy route configured with HUB1-VPN3 as the outgoing device., how can you determine the traffic matched a policy route. Policy Routes always have an ID < or = to 65535 Page 166 in the Study Guide. However, the exhibit clearly shows C. HUB1-VPN3 has a lower route priority value (higher priority) than HUB1-VPN1.

I choose BC, the traffics match on sdwan rule. The traffic go to HUB-VPN3 because

1. Is the lower priority route (more priority then)
2. The table route indicates that the preference route is 10.0.0.0/8 if the traffic dont match with 10.0.3.0/24 or 10.1.0.0/24. Question don´t mention the Destination IP, but an IP range. So in the most cases, traffic will match with the first route.

Following up on this, I've ben scratching my head trying to figure out how A could be a possibility. There is no indication of any policy route in the exhibit. The question clearly states "Based on the output shown in the exhibit, which 'two' reasons, individually, or together, could explain the behavior. Two reasons being the deciding factor for me, I can't seem to find anything in the study guide to back this up, but clearly you can see cfg order and priory are the only things being exhibited.
