When you enable managed switch mode on FortiSwitch, the configuration on the standalone switch is replaced by the default configuration for a managed switch, which means that your standalone settings are lost. This also means that you must start your FortiSwitch configuration over again, but this time using FortiGate. To save time, Fortinet provides you with a migration tool called fortilinkify.py that is available for download on the Fortinet Developer Network (FNDN) page at fndn.fortinet.net.

The tool is a Python script that converts the supported settings in a FortiSwitch standalone configuration file to the equivalent FortiOS settings for a managed switch. Note that not all the settings in your FortiSwitch configuration file are converted. Only those supported by managed switch mode and by the script are. The tool documentation at the FNDN page contains a list of supported settings.
